Since his very beginnings Adel Abdessemed has a clear vision about what art is meant to convey, a certain idea of the world that, one day through one or the other piece of art anyone can relate to. The artist transcends the anger he could had have regarding his personal story, to deliver powerfull universal art pieces. Politic, religion, relationship with the power are its main subjects he treats through differents means like sculpture, installation, video or just charcoal on paper. Many times he puts himself at risk like in the video “Helikoptère”, 2007 or “Separation” in 2006 or “Je suis innocent” (I’m not guilty) in 2012. Since his first personal exhibition in Paris in 2006 I see his artwork being built as one of the major conceptual artist in Europe. BCh.
