AUSTRALIAN PHOTOGRAPHER
Born in 1987 in Tweed Heads, NSW
Currently lives and works in Los Angeles

Anna Carey is a very talented multi disciplinary Australian artist I discovered grace to Queensland Art Centre for Photography. Actually Carey’s photographs are the result of a long process. She has decided to create miniatures of houses from the 50s -a time she wasn’t born. She doesn’t use any photograph to nurture her imagination. She is able to create a building, a hotel, a house from an assemblage of souvenirs she collects either from her memory or memories from other people she heard about. Then she shoots the crafted miniatures in a real/fake landscape. As she prints it in large scale, the viewer can easily think of a real building in a real landscape. But if the viewer pays more attention to the piece he can instantly detects some defaults in the structure which make the piece very intriguing.
