Derwent is proud to announce the winners of the 5th installment of the Derwent Art Prize . Out of the 4,756 entries submitted for the Prize, and a shortlist of 70 pieces , judges Victoria Pomery, Director of Turner Contemporary, Artist Charles Avery, and Art critic Alice Rawsthorn selected the 4 winning artworks .

The number and quality of the artworks submitted by 1,884 artists from 72 different countries made the final choice difficult for the judges. “There were so many wonderful entries demonstrating the creativity of artists based in the UK and beyond”, explained Victoria Pomery. Alice Rawsthorn remarqued “The quality of the entries was so high that we were spoilt for choice.” And Charles Avery recounted “I was struck, not only by the huge amount of entries, but the dedication and effort on display.”
