Chris Davies is the President of Fabrik Media, publisher of contemporary art and design magazine, FABRIK. Photo Independent was an extremely “touching” Art Fair due to the presence of the photographers and their devotion for their art. Some of them put all their money to come to the fair to meet with collectors and potential galleries . The format of their print is very often small, way too small for some of them. But you have to take it as a sample and figure out how it could look with a bigger size. Besides, the photobook publishers space was very interesting.

If Photo Independent first mission was to welcome photographers, we can say check. But, many photographers were helped to come by their galleries and some gallerists were in the booth to introduce their artists. This is little different that the initial genuine purpose of the fair which was to host only “Independent photographers”. It changes slightly the purpose of the fair which is a bit of a disappointment. BCh
