“IT TAKES A MILLION YEARS TO BECOME DIAMONDS SO LET’S JUST BURN UNTIL THE SKY’S BLACK” by Katharina ZIEMKE & Damien CADIO at Manzoni Schäeper in Berlin, Germany from April 26 to June 22nd, 2013
We follow French painter Damien Cadio and German painter Katharina Ziemke since their first exhibition -in 2005- in a squat in Paris, curated by THE French “eye” Eric Corne.
For this exhibition they both switched their usual medium oil on canvas to charcoal on paper for Damien Cadio, ink on paper and wax on paper for Katharina Ziemke. No surprise both artworks are excellent.
They both pursue their journey through bizarre subjects found on the Internet then cut and extracted from their initial context and re-composed.
In both artwork, the new medium enhance the purpose: charcoal on paper brings more drama to the subject and wax on paper brings more “acidity” that leads to the edge in Ziemke artwork.
If it’s not done yet, they are of course both to collect! BCh”
