Kenton NELSON at Peter Mendenhall Gallery
May 31 – July 13th, 2013

Californian artist, Kenton Nelson, continues his journey among the American Life through a unique signature style that clearly remains America after World War 2. The series of watercolor he shows this time could have been done to illustrate some magazine at that time.

To document his purpose here is what the artist says about his art: ” (…) The objective in his paintings is to idealize the ordinary with the intention of engagement, using the iconic symbols and styles of his lifetime in a theatrical style to make leading suggestions.

(….) Nelson paints a distinctly California regionalism of his own native culture, documenting some of the better decisions, while remaining acutely aware of the art, and its function and purpose in society.
