“Broken Souls” Remy Tortosa
@Alliance Française, LA
through Jannuary 2017
French-born LA-based photographer Remy Tortosa came to photography through an unusual path as prior to photography he served proudly as a fireman for 11 years.
Concerning the series “Broken Souls” shown at Alliance Française, Tortosa immersed himself for a year within the homeless community of Los Angeles. He delivered a series of 23 photographs of poignant close up portraits and hands. Despite the miserable condition of living of those homeless those photographs remind us they are first of all human. Their gazes say more than words would do.
A must be seen!
