MUSCLE Featuring Kingsley Ifill and Daniel Albrigo
Through March 4, 2017
at Paul Loya Gallery, Los Angeles

Powerful title “MUSCLE”for that two person exhibition featuring works by London Based artist, Kingsley Ifill and Los Angeles artist, Daniel Albrigo.

This exhibition explores the masculine identity through iconic symbols and voyeuristic nature of finding a “connectiveness” with professional sports figures. As a nation we adopt the ideals to dominate in everything we do because as a country we have to be the best at everything we do. We seem to find a kindred spirit with the top athletes we watch and root for as they too dominate their sport and profession.
The embracing of menacing imagery that are printed on clothing or etched in our skin as pirates raising their flags to initiate fear to surrounding company. Kingsley Ifill and Daniel Albrigo have both created separate bodies of work that we have put composed to together in one exhibition to commentate on this cultural phenomenon.
