The pursuit of happiness

First solo show in France for Cordy Ryman.  What if I let your know that Cordy is Ryman’s son, yes Robert Ryman himself, THE Ryman who dare to present white color paintings his whole career (it was brand new and revolutionary at the time he did it).

But, presenting an artist through his origins is not a gage of quality. It makes us generally even more demanding. And the art presented at Zürcher Paris is excellent. What common point we can detect between father and son, probably the minimalism. But, when the father made a radical painting, Cordy uses that radicality by adding sensitivity and narrative to it. The pieces Cordy Ryman creates tell the story of how to become minimalist, how too reach minimalism.

Cordy introduces a touch of humanity in his minimalism turning it into a sort of expressionism minimalist.
