A subtle infinity

This is the second solo show at Rosamund Felsen of LA artist, Marcia Roberts.

With Marcia Roberts, the color has become the main subject, the only one material, the means and the objective. The constraint is tough especially as Mark Rothko‘s been there before her. But the artist installs a new vocabulary when it seems that after having decided on the color, she creates some optical illusions with one tone above or one tone below, setting that way in her paintings a depth unheard, sometimes vertiginous.

Un infini subtile

Cette exposition est le second solo show de Marcia Roberts, peintre de LA, à la galerie Rosamund Felsen. La couleur est devenu le principal sujet, le matériau unique, le moyen et l’objectif. La contrainte est rude d’autant plus que Mark Rothko est passé par là avant elle. Mais l’artiste installe un nouveau vocabulaire où il semble qu’après avoir décidé de la couleur, elle crée des illusions optiques une tonalité au dessus ou une tonalité au dessous, installant une profondeur inouie, parfois vertigineuse dans ses toiles.
